Community Centre

The Deepings Community Centre already had an outstanding history of success in providing community, health, support and education facilities in the heart of the Deepings. The work of the centre is now starting to outgrow its premises with more space being demanded by current and potential users.

The DMP are therefore supporting the Community Centre to expand its facilities in 2008.

We hope to help the Community Centre:

Provide additional floor space creating a conference facility, performance venue, venue for additional sports/leisure activities, multi use space for hire etc.
Provide arts facilities including a sunken stage and a screen.
Re-design the existing reception area to create an expanded tourist information point and community information area. This will promote the heritage of the area to visitors, potential visitors and local residents alike. An increase in tourist activity in the Town Centre is obviously a good thing for local businesses and something we are keen to promote.
Enclose the existing exterior courtyard to create a multi purpose space for use as an exhibition area and events reception area.
Re-develop the existing catering facilities, creating a usable space to hire for events.
Provide climate control and upgrade the existing heating system. This will increase energy efficiency, reduce running costs, create a more comfortable and user friendly environment and ultimately place a ‘green footprint’ on the building.
Provide additional space and facilities for IT training, offering basic and more advanced courses to a varied cross section of the local business and residential communities.
Create additional space and other facilities.

So far we have had some plans put together and have started to raise money for the development.
